Supporting victims on their restorative journey

Victim support is one of the most important roles in the journey of a victim. Understanding all of the aspects of restorative justice, and what some of the most important positives are, is crucial for helping the person you are supporting, choose the right path.

Restorative Justice provides a unique opportunity for some incredibly positive outcomes to occur, particularly in reducing distress, anxiety and post-traumatic stress symptoms.

Beyond that, it also gives the victim the ability to:

  • tell the offender how they have been affected by the crime

  • state how it can be put right

  • start dealing with the effects of the crime.

Victim Support has training materials that help understand the Restorative Justice Process, and how you can help inform a victim.

Restorative Justice providers are keen to connect and help Victim Support understand the process and benefits of participating. If your interest is specific to an area, please reach out to talk to your local Restorative Justice provider or alternatively, please contact us for any national information.
